NEW YORK (WABC) — It’s been said that cats have nine lives. Lucky may have used more than one earlier this month.

The cat fell 26 stories out of his owner’s apartment window.

“I guess he thought he was safer than he actually was,” Keri Hostetler said.

The window in Keri’s home office was only open 6 inches, but that was wide enough for Lucky, a curious cat, to squeeze through.

Lucky’s terrifying fall and extraordinarily graceful landing were captured on film.

First of Lucky perched dangerously on the ledge, and then a stomach-turning shot of Lucky midair. Finally, they captured Lucky, after landing, on his feet on a neighbor’s balcony 26 stories below.

Amazingly, Lucky escaped with minor injuries.

Three-year old Lucky truly lived up to his name. Now, after a brief hospital stay, he is happy to be home. His owner says she hopes other high-rise cat owners take note….

“No windows ever open, ever again,” Hostetler said.

Article by Jen Maxfield

I guess Keri like many other cat owners are unaware of the the Cat Veranda™ Cat Door. Even in the high rise building like this story your cat can enjoy a luxurious day outside without leaving the house or falling the 26 stories! Whether you live in a high-rise or make your home in the suburbs, your cat can now enjoy the fresh air in his very own outdoor sunroom! The Cat Veranda™ Cat Door, the first window-mounted cat flap door that includes an open-air patio with covered roof and indoor lounging platform. Now your cat can enjoy the outdoors as they please, or you can choose to close the flap for restricted use.

My feline friends just lay around in the sun all day, smell the flowers and chase mice, snakes and other little creatures around all day for fun. When Auzzie Cat was alive he always brought me his trophies in the middle of the night for me to see.

In the past there were no cat doors available in the market place. One had to go to the door and let their cat out. And we all know how that is because they just sit there for five minutes before deciding whether to come in the house. However, today there is every conceivable entry door with four way locking systems for entry and exit from your home. Here are entry and exit doors available to throuh the window, a screen door, a glass storm door, wall entry and even sliding glass door. So what ever entry you need today they are available in today’s market place

Before you let your cat roam around outdoors, you might want to take them out on a leash a few times, or at least show them the yard so they become familiar with it.
