A Cat’s Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
The king-size bed is soft and deep…
I sleep right in the center groove
My human can hardly move!

I’ve trapped her legs, she’s tucked in tight
And here is where I pass the night
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Till morning comes and “I want cat food!”

I sneak up slowly to begin
My nibbles on my human’s chin.
She wakes up quickly, I have sharp teeth -
And my claws I will unsheath

For the morning’s here and it’s time to play
I always seem to get my way.
So thank you Lord for giving me
This human person that I see.

The one who hugs me and holds me tight
And sacrifices her bed at night.

Auzziecat and his sons Joey & JJ about Cat Health

This is a story written by my father Roger K. Thomas about Joey, JJ and Auzziecat talking about eating healthy pet food. Pictured from left to right is Joey, JJ, Auzziecat and Katie.

Joey said, “JJ, how do you suppose our old buddy, Auzzie, keeps so fit and energetic?”

“I guess I’ve never given it much thought,” JJ replied, “Lets ask him and see what he says.”

As if he had overheard them talking, Auzzie walked into the room and sat down facing them. “My ears are burning, have you been talking about me?” he said.

“Well”, said Joey, “As a matter of fact we were. We were wondering how you older guys keep so healthy!”

Auzzie paused in thought and then said, “I am going to tell you something that will answer your questions about being healthy and long-lived. It doesn’t start when you are old, it starts when you are young and still in your formative stage,” Auzzie went on. “It is having a balanced, tasty nutritious and healthy diet that gives you the energy to live life to its fullest.”

“Some scientists say that us felines, and uh, dogs too, should live 25 to 30 years but yet the average is only approximately 12 to 14 years. “Lack of proper nutrition is a key factor. That and not getting the care necessary to prevent other cat health problems that are always present.” Auzzie concluded with, “So, you see, that’s it. Good nutrition and good health care!”

Both Joey and JJ were silent. Then Auzzie said, “Let’s have some of that good nutrition I was telling you about. Here it is, Life’s Abundance Premium Health Food. I have been on it since I was about your age. Choose Your Catnip Wisely

Everyone knows that cats love catnip, but why? Catnip is actually a flowering plant that pleasantly stimulates cats’ pheromonic receptors when cats sense its bruised leaves or stems, commonly resulting in temporary euphoria. It may cause cats to paw at it, chew it, lick it, leap about and purr, or salivate. About two-thirds of cats are susceptible to catnip because of heredity; others do not react to it.

Because catnip is a plant, and you want the very best for your cat, you should buy only 100% organically grown catnip. This means your cat won’t be exposed to any harmful pesticides that were used to grow the catnip. Also, look for toys that are completely stuffed with catnip and not supplemented with cotton fill or lesser grade catnip. If you buy better quality catnip, it will last longer and your cat will be much happier!

Auzziecat’s Opinion on eating healthy foods

Background information: Cat Palace USA site was dedicated in memory of “Auzziecat” (April 1992 to August 2004) who was our family feline friend that inspired the creation Cat Palace USA. He was the father figure of Joey, JJ and Katie cats. This is just one of many stories originally presented by Auzziecat when it was all started in 2000.

Mom’s Baby and Her Cat

Babies and Cats have much in common with each other, mom and the family. As you know from your own experience, a woman’s work is never done. Up at 5:00 A.M., breakfast, packing lunches, going to work, being soccer mom, cooking dinner, bed time stories for her children and then a late evening secret meeting with her husband (AKA Her Lover).

Now that we understand and appreciate Mom’s day lets compare why Babies and Cats are like each other in many ways.

Babies are just as curious as Cats

Cats have their littler box cleaned and Babies have their diapers changed

Babies get a bottle of milk and Cats get a bowl for milk for breakfast

Babies sleep all night and play all day while Cats prowl all night and sleep all day

Babies and Cats play with lots of toys

Babies and Cats crawl around the floor looking to put something in their mouth

Both Cats and Babies like treats

And finally, the Japanese Beta Fighter Fish Just Looked On

Note: It is also Mom who takes care of the baby and cat h ealth
